Melvin J. Pay

MELVIN J. PAY "Mel" age 93 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.  Beloved husband of Marilyn Pay (nee Mitchell) for 70 years.  Loving father of Lou Ann Lowry (Skip), Bonnie Holodnak (Mike), Bob Pay (deceased), David Pay, and Joni Androne (Tony).  Devoted grandfather of Jessica Day (Brian), Michelle Dicini (Rocco), Jonathan Forman (Natalie), Matthew and Leah Androne, Michael and Edward Lowry, and Steve, Rob, Tara, and Tim Holodnak. Great grandfather of 21. Brother of the late Edith Gynn and Elton Pay. Brother-in-law of Mary Lou Mitchell (Wayne).  Mel was also preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Gianna Dicini.

Mel was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Korea.  He was a Mason and Eastern Star with over 50 years of service. Mel served the Brecksville community as a Police Officer and School Bus Driver for 30 years each.

Mel and Marilyn loved traveling including many cruises, trips to Hawaii often for their anniversaries, and trips to Alaska and England. Camping was a passion of Mel and Marilyn for many years.  They cherished time spent with their children and grandchildren and enjoyed all of their activities.  They were truly like the Green Acres couple. 

The family wishes to thank the many caregivers, including the Brecksville Fire Department, that helped care for Mel in his final days.  A special thanks to Tina Whited, David Pay, and Michael Lowry for going above and beyond in caring for Mel.

Family and Friends will be received at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. with Masonic and Eastern Star Services at 7 p.m.  Mel's funeral service will be held at the Richfield United Church of Christ, 4340 West Streetsboro Rd., Richfield, OH 44286, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. Family and friends will also be received at church from 10-11 a.m. prior to Mel's service. Interment Brecksville Cemetery.
